Another great year

September, 2013

It is both pleasing and encouraging to be able to report that in the last academic year up to 31st August, record numbers of students and schools benefited from the involvement of Explore.

Over 6,700 young people attended sessions in 59 schools.  In addition, presentations were made in prisons, a night shelter for the temporary homeless and twice during a holiday week for older teenagers organised by a housing association.

Also, a group of University students at a weekend away, had a dialogue with two volunteer couples which proved stimulating and beneficial.

Following the appointment of an ambassador in London early in 2013, significant growth has occurred in a very short period, with 4 events already having taken place.  There is huge potential for rapid development in the capital and the main task will be to ensure that we have sufficient couples and adviser coaches to cope with the demand.  Most encouraging has been the support of the Westminster Diocese and Edmund Adamus.

The benefits to young people of stable home backgrounds can never be underestimated, and the task of Explore, is to be part of meeting that challenge in the months ahead.  We are indebted to all our volunteers and supporters who believe in the value of what we do and our ability to press ahead is only limited by the resources that we have available.
